The arched hit and miss gate is contemporary in style, clever in function and works well in nearly any setting. The horizontal slats are alternated in the side of the gate they are attached to thus allowing some flow of air making them less susceptible to issues in strong winds. Woven Chestnut Gate
A fully framed woven chestnut gate which is chemical free and locally made. These gates look great with chestnut fencing and other natural fencing such as Hazel or in a natural hedge.The chestnut used is coppiced from local woodlands and the panels are made by hand here in Kent. Chestnut is a versatile timber that requires no treatment and has a life expectancy of 20+ years. The method of making these panels has changed little over time and they are to this day, hand-woven.The frame is made using mortice and tenon joints and woven sawn lathes measure
approximately 5-7 cm wide and 1cm thick. Chestnut Cleft Five Bar Field Gate
An alternative to the standard five bar gate, these gates are made from locally coppiced chestnut which makes for a more natural and sustainable wooden gate. It can be used as a garden gate or field gate and due to the natural rot resistance of sweet chestnut, this gate will last a long time without any need for chemicals or treatments. The sturdy gates are made using mortice and tenon joints with additional bolted cross bracing. The organic form comes from the simple way they are harvested and worked locally. Chestnut is only grown and coppiced in small areas of the UK and we are lucky to be one of these areas.
