Chestnut Cleft Five Bar Field Gate
An alternative to the standard five bar gate, these gates are made from locally coppiced chestnut which makes for a more natural and sustainable wooden gate. It can be used as a garden gate or field gate and due to the natural rot resistance of sweet chestnut, this gate will last a long time without any need for chemicals or treatments. The sturdy gates are made using mortice and tenon joints with additional bolted cross bracing. The organic form comes from the simple way they are harvested and worked locally. Chestnut is only grown and coppiced in small areas of the UK and we are lucky to be one of these areas.
