Installing a fence post & panel
Fences keep what you want in or unwanted guests out. They can also add interest to your garden.
We have a large range of different designs and heights for your garden.
Step 1: Spacing the Fence Posts Check the width of your panel it may be 1.8m or 1.83m set posts to suit which panel you choose. Set the corner or end post first. Then stretch a line from each corner or end post to align all the posts in between. Mark the exact position where the post hole is to be dug.Take time to measure and position the posts accurately. The appearance and structural strength of your fence depends a great deal on the positioning of the fence posts.
Step 2: Setting the fence posts Set all posts with about 1/3 of their total length buried in the ground.Place some gravel in the bottom of each hole, use a spirit level to check the posts are in the upright position, brace each post with timber after it is properly in alignment then cement with postcrete or balast & cement in place. Leave the bracing inplace until the post is set. Allow the posts to set before adding the fence panels.
Step 3: Installation of panels. Once the posts are set, depending if you have used concrete slotted or wooden posts, the panels can either be slid in or screwed into place.
Tip: A gravel board is advised as this will help preserve the life of your fence panel.
